1976 - 1978In 1976, Mr Johan van de Put founded J. van de Put Fresh Cargo Handling in a barn in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands. He concentrated on a product that is difficult to import; perishables. Customers were predominantly companies in the Dutch flower auction industry.
In 1978 the company had 3 employees.
1978 - 1988It rapidly became clear that the company would need more room to keep growing. It was decided to move to another business premises at what was at the time the flower auction house in Roelofarendsveen.
In 1988 the company grew to having 25 employees.
1988 - 1993In 1988 an adjacent building became vacant. In order to be able to continue our growth, it was decided to move all activities to this building. We also opened a small branch at Schiphol airport.
At the end of 1993 the company had over 60 employees.
1993 - 2000The fact that the company was experiencing continued growth and we were handling more and more freight made it necessary to establish the business closer to Schiphol Airport. Van de Put was moved to a business premises in Schiphol-Zuid.
During this period we also started developing air freight export. Transit services for the Eastern European and Russian market were also launched during this period.
2000 - PresentIn 2000 the company moved to an entirely new and modern perishable centre in Schiphol Zuid-Oost. This building was designed by Johan van de Put and is fully equipped for correct and efficient handling of perishable goods.
Oceanfreight has also been part of our range of services since 2003. In order to have the handling of products at Schiphol run even more swiftly, we also opened a 2nd cargo warehouse on the apron in 2007.
Owing to close cooperation with the Dutch government, Customs and industry organizations, J. van de Put has now become an important partner for legislators and Schiphol. Partly as a result of this, J. van de Put Fresh Cargo Handling is able to provide its customers the best service.
In 2011 the company has more than 300 employees.
